It sounds like you're having a hormonal change that is making your periods shorter, but then the brown discharge could just be some "breakthrough bleeding." Dried blood that discharges is brown instead of bright red (fresh oxygenated blood.)

If you're on the pill, it might be time for a switch (yours might be a bit too strong) and if not, if you've started a great deal of exercise or you're taking other medications or supplements, you may have changed your hormonal balance without realizing it.

Just be sure to mention the change to your physician at next visit.

when i decided to get off the depo shot that happend to me i had lil blood and kinda discharge if you have recently come off birth control your period will be messed up for a while until you either go to the doctor and get a pap test an on different birth control and they can also test to see if its something else. You could also just be backed up or clogged which you can go get a douch kit and clean yourself which is really easy and works and make you feel better the dollar store has very cheap and effective kits you can get if you dont want to spend to much. But i would still go to the doctor just to be sure.

Brown discharge. You may have a bacterial infection, don't pass out or anything. Women often get this. It is NOT a STD, so don't worry. Go to the doctor and get some antibiotics. Good luck. Oh and anything could be causing your periods to last shorter than usual. Stress, worry, etc. You'll be fine. GOOD LUCK!

Is there any way to get into the doctor sooner? If you've been experiencing this for several months, it might be smart to get in ASAP.
