Tell him u want to take a break and need some space i guess.
He is going to be hurt no matter what you do. If you want to go and "test the waters" there is a good chance you might find someone new and not want to be back with your old bf.
Its just cruel to string him along all this time keeping his hopes up until one day you decide you dont really want him back.
Also if you do break up there is a chance he would get over you and find someone new as well. Then he wont want you back because he has someone new, and you broke his heart.
I think if you really want to do this then don't string him along and don't expect him to want you back. You cant play with peoples emotions like that.

This is so high school I can't believe it. Your wanting to...let me get this right, you want to test the waters you say? Well, I hope while your a fishing for a better catch that your so called bf lands himself a whopper of a great girl, cause you aren't it. Sorry but your wanting your cake and eat it too. Why would you play a person like that. Try this one on for size. Let him toss you aside w/a dumb reason so he can so called TEST THE WATERS. Grow up.

Let him know that you don't feel you can continue with a serious relationship as you are still young. Just bear in mind he may find someone willing to be in a serious reltionship with him therefore you will stand no chance in the future. Whatever you decide, don't live with regrets!!!

There's never a guarantee. You're taking the chance of losing that person forever. If that's a chance you're willing to live w/, and if the end result...no matter what it could be, is something you can deal w/ if it comes to that, then go ahead. Good luck.

Hi SS,
Gee that is a toughie question you have here,,,,
I had a gf in high school that did that, , i didnt take it too well either,,,, but later on,, we got together while in college,,, far apart i might add... and it was pretty good... we didnt get married but are still good friends.. (although i hope i dont meet her husband) lol..
Its possible,, as long as you can stay in some contact with each other...
good luck

This is very immature of you to do this. YOu can't love this guy if you want to test the waters with others THEN go back to him... If this guy had any sense he wouldnt want you back.. just like you wouldnt want him back after hes been with other girls for a test drive
