This dude let his mom and his religion break us up do you think its because his mom didn't like us living 2get

We were going together for 7 months and we decided to move in together, but his mom was always saying things to him about the bible now he is confused which led to the breakup. He stills wants to be with me but he just want to get hisself together. I believe, i just don't go to church as often. We still love each other but its real hard for me cause we work together. I don't know what to do. I will to wait for him, but if you really care about someone you wouldn't let anything or anyone come in between yall. Right?
