They say that in the old days, people loved Wisdom. Then they settled for knowledge. Nowadays, we just want information. I can ask on Yahoo Answers or Google or Wikipedia how large are the testicles of a gnat, and I will get the answer. I'm bored with it, and I want out. Am I mad? Or is this a good thing?

So how large all the testicles of a gnat?

Information, if it doesn't lead to something more significant, or have some greater purpouse, is just trivia. While knowing your example of a factoid will bring me about 15 seconds of amusement, it doesn't actually improve my condition in any useful way. People obviously do crave meaning and deeper knowledge (religion wouldn't have staying power if it didn't) but there is a certain allure to being able to ask total strangers (insert some bizzare question here.) If you find it to be annoying, then try not to stare at wikipedia or yahoo answers for a few days. Don't know what else to tell you. Best wishes.

It is the false sense of security, and the urge to run seeking after it, persuades a person to seek information (some kind of insurance ), but wisdom teaches where to look for information, when needed, instead of carrying a heap of unsorted library in our head !
