I'm not sure if this is going to answer your question, but i took the depo shot for about 2 years and I LOVED IT. In my case it didn't cause weight gain, but i think it depends on the person, and as far as being fertile?? i guess NO, unless you mean unable to have children and in that case the answer would be NO..i went off the shot and within about a year i got pregnant(which is why i got off the shot, planned pregnancy). If i would have to suggest a form of birth control is would be this one the DEPO shot, for me it worked out great. Just remember, the shot does NOT protect against STD'S and HIV, you must use condoms for this each and every time.
Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!

I have been on the Depo-Provera injection and so have most of my friends. There was a lot of weight gain with all of us. Also it seemed as though in the first couple months it made me very emotional and caused me to have bad mood swings. Also a lot of people I know had a very bad time with bleeding and cramps when getting off this birth control, as did I.

It is great because you don't have to worry about getting your period. Also it is great for those of us who can't remember to take a pill everyday!

Just remember this is one of the worst forms of birth control when it comes to side effects. I hope this helps you make your decision.

i would not use the depo shot my cousin had it and she bleed so bad that she had to go to the emergency room and they also cause leg cramps me personally i would go with the pill or i would consider an iud implant.the great thing about the pill is it works like within a week of taking it and if you have some issues with the pill there are like tons of over brands to try and if you still dont like the pill well then there is the option of the iud its good for 5-10 years depending on which one you get and if you decide you want kids before the 5-ten years is up they can take it out.go to a web site for the planned parent hood they have like all differnt kinds of birth control and describe each one and then see which you would be most comfortable with

no it will not make you fertile, but it did make me sex crazed and irritable, you may gain a little weight (like all hormonal forms of birth control)

you will have to wait two weeks for the shot to take full effect before it will be reliable birth control

The number one birth control recommended by the doctors is the "ortho tri-" depo do cause wt gain. and may cause you to stop your pms. which is bad because pmsing cleans out your inside. I would strongley recommend the pills.
