Nah, it's more of how it makes you feel to say it! When I say Buh-Bye I feel like a stewardess who is gratefully saying good bye to a plane load of noisy, demanding passengers. When I say it on the phone, I feel like I'm finally ending a tedious call but still want to be polite. When I simply say 'bye, or good bye...that means I like you!

My family never says bye when hanging up the phone. My grandmother started it because she says bye is so final. But to answer your question, it depends on the situation. Family and friends=buh bye; business contacts=goodbye

I additionally share the resposibilities of answering telephones in my place of work for 2 hours according to day. as quickly as I close the verbal substitute I say: "Have a great day. Buh-bye." no person has ever reprimanded me for it and it continually activates the caller to be pleasantly bowled over via my friendly ultimate assertion. as adversarial to the different women in my places of work that answer telephones, who basically fairly plenty carry close up on the tip of a decision. I not often ever get unsightly telephone calls and that i think of it feels greater own to the caller. you could hear the smile of their voice then I tell them to have a great day. according to probability I could basically go away it at that.

The first 'recalls' the airline attendant scenes on SNL with David Spade and Helen Hunt. That's the only difference I am aware of.
