I am learning to play the guitar(acoustic), but the smallest string on it broke. I don't really know what sort/gauge of strings are on it right now. Should I just replace the one or all of them? I'm having a little trouble with the current strings, they're hurting my fingers quite a bit. Will a different gauge make it easier?

Its a high e string.
You don't need to change all the strings unless they are old . A lighter gauge set would be easier on your fingers though. But if you change gauges the set should be uniform. You would need a whole set if you want a light gauge string and the other strings are medium gauge.

Regarding the above answer, keep playing, the repeated finger use will cause callouses. The skin hardens. This is a good thing. Using calloused fingertips instead of the soft fingertips you have now will take away the pain.

If this is confusing e mail me.
