On Monday the low temperature at the South Pole dropped 9 degrees F from Sunday's low. On Tuesday it fell another 7 degrees, then rose 13 degrees on Wednesday and 17 degrees more on Thursday. Friday it dropped 8 degrees to -50 degrees F. What was Sunday's low temperature?

you just work it backwards startin at -50 so since it droped 8 degrees before that u actually add 8 then since it rose 17 degrees before that u add 17 same with 13 then u add 7 than u add 9 and get -56 as the low

set it up as
-50=X+(-9+-7+13+17+-8)
with X as sundays low and solve

First of all, the South Pole is in the Southern Hemisphere, therefore making it impossible to reach a temperature of -50 degrees. So, in a nutshell, the question is moot, not answerable.
