1. Visit Korlai fort near Revdanda, little ahead of Alibag. It's totally isolated, has a sea nearby and a beautiful lighthouse which u can enter into by paying small entry fee legally. U can stay in Revdanda or make arrangements to stay in a guesthouse of Vikram Ispat nearby. U can also go ahead and stay in Murud, if u like. But if u can convince the lighthouse staff, u can share the accomodation, if u wish and u r lucky.
The fort is a relic. It dates back to 15th century and was the first place where King Shivaji started his first factory for manufacturing canons. U can still see and touch few canons here. Beautiful and scenic location. U can spend entire day here.
Happy outing.

The best holiday location within a radius of 150 kms of Mumbai city is the hill station, Matheran. It is always isolated and there are no worldly sounds like those of vehicle noises, traffic jams, or pollution of any kind. Vehicles are not allowed inside. I think you must have head of this place because you have mentioned places like lonavala, khandala and alibaug, Anyway, in case you do not know, it lies near Neral junction railway station on the central railway line. From there, you can go by private taxi which is around 40 rupees per head or 250 rupees for the entire taxi. It's a lovely place, always nice and cool weather, good for sight seeing and adventure sports like trekking, rock climbing, rappeling, horse riding, etc. I stayed at Brightlands resorts the last time visited there. They take care of all the arrangements including taking you to matheran and droping you back to mumbai. They have pretty good facilities. There are many other hotels and resorts in matheran to chose from as well. If you love kababs and hookahs, don't forget to try out the hotel "Hookahs n Tikkas" which is just opposite the matheran station in the market. People normally go to matheran to spend their weekends since it is a good place away from all the noise of the city. In case you've not gone to this place, now would be a good time to do so, and even if you have gone there, it is still a good place to go for people who want to enjoy some isolation from the worldly noises like those of the city.
