Because he features in the stories wrote by homer on greek mythology
Achilles was given an inpenetrable suit of armour by the gods so that he could not be killed in battle
he was picked up and dipped into so that he was protected
the only part not covered was one of his heels where he was held being dipped into it
his enemies found out and fired a poison arrow into his heel killing him
hence the term an achilles heel for a weakness
