No other country would give up its sovereignty to become a state to the Federation that is America. No independent nation-state in the world looks to give up its sovereignty! There are 50 states because that is how many have been admitted into the Union. The next probable state, if there ever is an addition, which in its self is highly unlikely, would be Puerto Rico, and there are many many mixed opinions and complexities that underly that situation. Puerto Rico itself is not an independent country, but somewhat of a territory. Its relationship with the United States is very unique in the world sense, it retains some independence, cannot vote in US Elections, and yet is subjected to many of the same US Federal laws.

We would not invite any other country to be a state. Stop skipping class and taking meth. That stuff is rotting your brain.

Land alone no longer determines a nation's wealth. If it did, we might be interested in expanding and taking in new states. Since it doesn't, we don't.
