how no one can spell anymore? I try to read these Q&A's and I just get so distracted by the spelling and grammatical errors. It is driving me crazy.

I actually think the culprit in our society is text messaging and
e-mailing. Also, no one reads books anymore or goes to the library. There is no attention to quality - quantity and speed are the main factors driving many people, especially young kids, today. I really think text messaging is a huge contributor - everyone basically agreed not to spell anymore when that arrived.

Well, I have intentionally written the above sentence containing so many spelling mistakes.
You read the above sentence once again now and tell me could you read it quite easily as you would read the sentence without any spelling errors?
And I am sure your answer is: "Yes, I could!"
Surprised? Well, our eyes skip letters/characters that come inside a word. You would have no problem in reading and recognizing a word correctly if the First and the Last letters/characters are at their right places.

Many people didn't believe what was being said about the public schools, and the passing of people quite unprepared to contribute to the nation in any meaningful way. I guess we are seeing the evidence manifest before us... where the automatic spell checker is too technical for those whose education has been stolen from them by unions whose primary purpose is increasing its members salaries and offering tenure based on failure to perform.

People can spell, I think they are just in a hurry and too lazy to fix thier mistakes when they type.
