FOIL Method

(x - 4)(5x + 16) =

5x² + 16x - 20x - 64 =

5x² - 4x - 64

what do you want out of this problem, i dont understand.

However, let me continue with the multiplication.

(x - 4) (x + 4x + 16)

= x(x + 4x + 16) - 4(x + 4x + 16)

= x(5x + 16) - 4(5x + 16)

= 5x^2 + 16x - 20x - 64

= 5x^2 - 4x - 64

= 5x^2 - 20x + 16x - 64

= 5x(x - 4) + 16(x - 4)

= (5x +16)(x - 4)

(x-4)(x+4x+16)

(x-4)(5x+16)

Use the FOIL method.

Multiply the "F"irst terms: x(5x) = 5x^2
Multiply the "O"uter terms: x(16) = 16x
Multiply the "I"nner terms: -4(5x) = -20x
Multiply the "L"ast terms: -4(16) = -64

Combine terms:

5x^2+16x-20x-64

And you get:

5x^2-4x-64

(x-4)(x+4x+16)
(x-4)(5x+16) so far so good
now use FOIL- 1st terms, outside terms, inside terms last terms
5x^2+16x-20x-80
5x^2-4x-80

Unless there is a typo & it should be
(x-4)(x^2+4x+16) in which case you shoud get
x^3+4x^2+16x
-4x^2-16x-64
x^3-64

I think , 5x squared + 16x - 20x - 64
5x sq - 4x -64 > > maybe ?
