I didn't see the broadcast, but from what I'm reading, I think Fox overreacted. Am I missing something? It seems to me that he was just kidding around with a friend and it had nothing to do with race.

Well, most people in America have no problem with what he said, but i think Fox wants to make sure that the people in the general public that overreact do not stop watching Fox because of it. But, on a personal note, I agree with you entirely, it shouldn't have been taken so seriously.

It was most definitely an overreaction. I bet at least 60% of the people watching didn't even know what Lyons was talking about.

In today's day in age you can not make fun of minority members in that at work. It is almost the same as Harold Reynolds being accused of sexual harassment for giving a fellow employee a hug. He should have used better judgment I understand it was a joke but you've read your employee handbook. If any corporate officers find out that happened in your job they would probably do the same thing.

the problem was this was not the first time he said something offensive. he was just kidding arround, but he said things that he should not have. fox probally needed a reason to fire him, i always thought he was a jerk anyways.

I thought the same thing. I'm white so it may be unfair for me to judge, but it did seem to be a bit of an overreaction.

I'd LOVE to hear Piniella's opinion on it. he Probably didn't even bat an eye.
