I'm so glad I asked this question! :-)
I mean... it's not exactly a serious question, it's a fun one... and I've recieved loads of great answers so far. Sure, I know that it's different for everyone, but I LOVE sex!! :-D
By the way, in case anbody is wondering, yes, I'm in a relationship and we're getting married next year, so I do have that "love AND sex" thing that goes together so well :-) And my god, it's great!

Well, speaking as a mature person with a lifetime's experience, and twice married, I would say that men like TALKING about sex more than DOING it and that the preference increases as they get older (and I don't mean "old", I mean "older"!). As they get older, they also prefer BEER to sex, too, because they get lazier and less fit leading to inability to satisfy their partner properly.
As a woman, I'd say that sex can be thrilling and exciting with the right partner at the right time and place. It gets better for us as we age. However, finding that right partner, then becomes harder (pardon the pun).
Love is nature's decoy to ensure procreation and of course, for most, sex is always great within the first couple of years of a relationship, or when you first get married. We think it's always going to be that way.
Sex isn't great, every time all of the time, and indeed it is a relatively shortlived activity. Having a family, running a home, living the fast paced lifelstyle of today can actually cause us to stop enjoying sex the way we used to.
Anything that sets off our adrenaline and the hormonal rush that sex gives will provide an equally exciting and thrilling activity. Such as (for men, at least) formula one racing, sky diving etc.
For women, certain foods contain the comfort factors that women's sex hormones provide during sexual activity.
I think you are a man. Men and women would have in general, two distinctly different perceptions of the sexual thrill. Physiologically, men have a greater DRIVE for physical sex. For women it tends to be more a mind thing.
Hope your married life for the next 50 years gives you sex at least twice a day, 365 days a year, since you enjoy it so much. Somehow, I don't believe it will.

Anything that's addicting can be better than sex. Read sometime the book "Flow" by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, it talks about many things which generate such a high level of satisfaction that people would rather do it than sex.
There are many people who think the online game World of Warcraft is better than sex, which is why they don't hang out with their significant others as often.

Mother nature invented sex its the best thing a woman invented Father nature don't exist so she must have got herself pregnant .Can she ever invent some thing better don't think so unless men develop all the female attributes .Wilst keeping there own. Are you kidding? I am a married woman iand i will tell you that due to the fact that i have six children there are alot more things that are better then sex. I will give you a small list ,a hot bubble bath, 8 hours of sleep, making sure my hard wood floors are shiny. Those are the kind of things that are better then sex , to me that is !!!

depends for most people there isn't anything better than sex..but some people don't have the interest it it to start with but gettin the feeling at the end of it al there isnt a thing the world wish could beat it

depends on the sex your having i suppose, plus your situation.
i.e. a drink after a month in the desert may be better than sex!

Yeah, many people have.
But it is only an opinion..
What if you don't like sex? or don't like it much? Then being forced to eat sprouts might be better than sex for that individual..
