yes, I have had my cellphone for a few years now and have never owned a credit card.

You don't need a credit card you just need credit. If the companies you were looking at were asking for really steep deposits, consider getting Sprint phone. Thier depost requirements for people with no credit is the lowest out there. If they ask for a depost, it more likely than not will not cost more thatn 150 dollar depost to start service.
