If Daddy is worried about it, let Daddy go get the test done... The test costs around $500 and any decent lab can do it...
In TN, women who have their children on State Aid are required to submit the name (or names) of potential fathers, who are then subpoenaed and required to submit DNA for testing... If he is dad, then he pays for the test (as well as child support)...
Once paternity is established, child support is ordered. The money collected is divvied up between the mother and the State...
Seems like a good plan, especially since private corps can bid and get to operate the program...
LB: This happens only AFTER daddy has already legitimized the child (signed birth certificate, for example), and it is because of our public policy which favors the BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILD... The State does NOT need to go around de-legitimating children...

You have a point in that 12 percent of children are not fathered by their apparent father and the cheating rates are high. However, I am not comfortable living in a gattica-like world. It could easily turn into a 1984 (orwell)-like scenario.

Absolutely!!! I know men paying child support for children that are not theirs. Even if you find out the child you have been paying for turns out not to be yours, the court looks at how long you have been paying and you still might end up paying child support on a child that is not yours. Oh and by the way I am a woman.

I wanted to say No to this question but then I thought about the Maury Povich show and now I'm not so sure how to answer. I've never seen so many loose women in my life!

Only if the parent(s) request it. But then you aren't really interested in an answer are you? You appear to be a member of The Heman Woman Haters Club.

Fathers are just as good at lying. Yes it would be good to have babies DNA tested, even if only to ensure that fathers paid maintenance.

I think that if the alleged father would like to DNA test, then yes. Or the guy that thinks he IS the dad. Otherwise, who cares.

Why ? In 99% of cases there is no question over who are the parents, and in most of the rest, it is probably best not to know. I think the money would be better spent elsewhere.
