I am a hopeful writer myself, and honestly, this idea sounds interesting, but it needs a bit more spice. Yes, now Jane Austen is considered a classic, but if she lived in our times and sent in the manuscript of Pride and Prejudice to a publissher, they would ALL reject her, because if compared to modern novels, the development or her story is slow, not very thrilling and the beginning evolves too slow to capture the reader right away. I think you are familiar with it, I bet you have read a Jane Austen book and found it mayube hard to get apst the first few pages. Well, the publishers go barely past the first few words and I mean it, so as long as the book has FAST PACE and more FAST PACE, nothing will work. Keep up the writing, make sure it is as exciting as possible and good luck.

Yes, definitely. A word of advice: do your research very, very carefully. Make it authentic. Find a 'hook' to a contemporary theme (religious tolerance, political allegiances). Make the steelworks come alive, a metaphor for the relationship (cold steel, the burning furnace, etc., etc.) Good luck, it sounds like a great idea.

I think there's a market for anything that is well-written. Might not be something I personally would choose to read but like I said, as long as it's well-written, there's an audience for it.
