a package comes back u say we have to watch that when we're in a hurry, he says what makes you think you didn't do it? We'll do inventory at noon and leave at 3:30 next day he says you didn't tell me, you're trying to screw us out of hours. Come in at 7am, still comes in at 6am and says he's working for another supervisor which he isn't. He says you didn't give him the product labels, u did so you redo and he finds them days later but u don't say anything and he starts let's go to personnel, you're a raceist on and on and you don't say anything cause everyone like him and would probably believe what he has to say instead of u the supervisor. This all started when he filled in last yr. at a supervisor meeting cause they needed to filled chairs, now he thinks I can't give the other guys anything but him and only he does inventory instead of both guys working together.

Are you sure your "tone of voice" is non-threatening? Tone has a lot to do with how one is perceived. If he says "you didn't tell him," put everthing in writing as a Memo and give it to him, make two copies, one for you and one for him. Ask him to initial both documents, you keep one and give one to him. Initialed!

As for the "racist" comments, say to him: There is no room in this office.

well I'm trying to draw from your statement. With all due respect from your statement as a company owner i would draw that your kinda frustrated yourself and you maybe projecting this to the employee which could be relayed be you in an arrogant manner.in your defense it seems to me that you have a person that is in a power-play with you and is using a crutch in his favor.but if your the supervisor then this is what you can do;
1)document all inter-action and directives. it sounds to me that he'll tell you that he doesn't have to sign anything for you so you'll have to place in in place that is central to all your subordinates and in plan view ie. hanging on the wall. 2) examine personnel file and and find mis-statement (lie) legal termination reason. But your going to be called racist. so be ready.
If your not racist then let him know that you will sue him for deflation of character. if it it's legally defined in your state statue.
But in all honesty if your not going to stand up for yourself in the meetings you will achieve nothing. and to say that everyone is like him and will back him maybe a misjudgment of your colleagues.. character comes in all shades. worst case you will have to find another job. Good Luck.
