There's a comic book called "Gloom Cookie" by Slave Labor Graphics. Most of the characters wear stuff like you're describing. If you have short bobbed hair - that would be a plus if you're going for one of the main characters.

But if you really want to boggle thier minds - then just wear a plain black shirt (no writing) and get a fake whip and a black hood and you can say that you're a female version of the Black Peter (a fictional but traditional christmas character who tours with St. Nicholas and whips the bad children. This is a European Character - check wikipedia for more info)

You can probably go as Bewitched main character, Elizabeth Montgomery. The actress is real but the character is fictitious. At least you can go as a simple housewife wearing black or you can mix and match. This should be fun. If not, go as Sabrina, the teenage witch. Bring a cat with you so you can be identified as a witch. Goodluck!

In the novel "Pandora" by Anne Rice, there is a girl who is into the goth/punk lifestyle, though I can't remember her name. Anyway, I hope this helps you.
