If you withdraw the term "love" from the equation, it becomes less difficult to differentiate. Use infatuation, caring, attachment, sexual attraction, etc. Leave the term Love for what God shares with ones Soul.... and in extraordinary situations one Soul shares with another Soul.
There is no projection to Love, it is an internal experiencing and intended so. It is not intended to "give" but to experience within oneself. The phrase "I love you" should be properly stated as: "I experience intense Love within myself when I am with you." This phrasing does two important things. One it is honest, and does not make the other person responsible for ones experience, and secondly, it reminds one that Love is an inside activity, and between God and ones Soul.
Emotional "love" is an attachment carried over from a past-life relationship with the person one is accusing of "causing" ones love, and this memory is stored within ones MIND realm, the energy of which is a subtle emotional energy. So one is experiencing this memory within oneself, and one is "thinking" that it is being caused by the other person. This is ones MIND making sure that by projecting "responsibility" for the emotional energy to the other person, ones MIND is preventing one from discovering that it, ones own MIND, is the causal behind ones experience.
Peace

Depends what you mean?
Both intellectual love and emotional love can in my opinion be the kind of love that says "I love you", but the person is never there for me and so their "love" is only a thought they think or feel in themselves, but it doesn't make them love me with their actions.
The real difference is if love is turned into action or not.
But, hey; it's not like I would know really; I suck at it acctually and never did it right;-)

The ideal is when you can find both. I have followed my "heart" rather than my head & been hurt physically, emotionally & financially. If you just go for practicality.......money, stability, etc. you might be OK with those things, but you still won't be happy because you don't have that intense love connection. Marry a friend. It took me 48 years to find my soul-mate, but I found a man who loves & respects me & we work together on finances. He makes me laugh, he's always there for me...who could ask for more. We've been together 3 years now.

What the heck could intellectual love be? Love is an emotional not a rational concept.

maybe intellectual love has something to do with respect and admiration rather then actually being "in love", which is emotional, (so emotional love has no good reason, it´s something that just happens(?))

Intellectual love is loving somebody for who they are while emotional love is loving somebody because you just do and there is no explanation for that.

Intellectual Love: Using your brain to see the person for who & what they are & loving them anyway or seeing them for who & what they are & deciding it is best NOT to love them....
Emotional Love: Blindly loving someone DESPITE what your brain is telling you.... This is the one that get you into trouble & bring unhappiness, because this is the one that you CAN'T control.....

I think this joke explains the difference:
The Engineer and the Frog:
An engineer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess."
He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.
The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week."
The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.
The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back I'll stay with you for one week and do anything you want!"
Again the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.
Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want!"
The engineer said, "Look I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool!"
