No I"m afraid there is no way you can refuse to pay because in your opinion [and by the way in mine] money is being wasted. However, there are other ways of not paying taxes. The rich do it by employing the services of an accountant to fiddle the figures and claim for all sorts of expenses that you and I wouldn"t even dream of. The Government is being denied billions of pounds a year from so called Tax Avoidance schemes. They don"t appear to chase these people as much as Benefit Fraud. Is it because they {the rich] are their friends and buddies?

LOL, That is a question heard often and the answer is the same. No. Civil disobedience can be your other choice.
The taxes you pay get distributed like this: the bulk of the money goes to federal, then it trickles down to state, city, then municipal, ( county or towship)
Most of it goes to health care, and maintenance of government services
The spending that we protest is usually the war, deployment of the military somewhere where they get killed,
It is difficult or even impossible to just say I want to pay only this portion."
Sorry.

Unfortunately, no. A lot of people have tried to argue against paying taxes for that exact reason. You can get only so far in court and then, inevitable, the man wins. But you can get more involved in making the policies that shape your tax situation and vote for people who think the same way that you do.

Go back to school! - and learn! It's not 'there' - which refers to a location, but 'they are' written they're - the apostrophe replacing the missing vowel 'a' and 'waisted' means slim around the middle - Wasted = dissipated, misused, squandered, corroded which applies to many things in this world, including tax revenues!
