Our society including the media preaches to fulfill yourself, "just do it", and get whatever you deserve, etc.. Don't get me wrong, I am all about releasing my energy, fulfilling pleasure and wants, seeking to meet my needs, BUT when was the last time that you wanted to help those who are in need that really couldn’t help themselves? How did it make you feel when you helped someone that could really never pay you back?

I do it quite often; I am at a place in my life where my needs are pretty mundane.

I enjoy helping out my friends who are in need. I don't expect anything in return. I have a friend whose husband is in hospital quite often, I'll slip her a 20 at hospital since I know she needs to eat, buy gas, I don't expect anything from her, I just want to make it better for her. I have another friend who is in med school and has a small child, I am happy to do for her. She is on such a tight budget and I know a Walmart card and clothes for the kids are a welcome surprise in the mail. It makes me happy to know I made her day a little nicer. Maybe when she's a doc she'll save my life, but I'm not banking on it. :)

I also donate to a school that has underpriveledged children. I belieive the books and the fact that someone cares will make our country a better place.

I'm not sure what I get out of it, except that I am hoping I make other people happy and make the world a better place. Think how great the world would be if we were just all nice to each other.

Ahhh, another people pleaser. I'm glad to see that I am not alone. Honey, I give and give until I have nothing left and then I give some more. The more I do it, the more I want to do it. I'm a social worker and I help tons of people. I'm also a mother of five who is accustomed to putting everyone elses needs in front of my own. It's not something I think about waiting for some sort of recognition, it's just something I do, because I have the logic that if I don't do it, who will? In this day and age, there are far too many takers and not enough givers. It's why the world is in the state it is. We are far too concerned about race, religion and politics. If you take those out of the equation, we are all just people trying to do our best to provide for our children and make it throug each day. If for one second everyone in this world could realize that, we wouldn't have to wait for a crisis or tragedy to unite as a nation. In that one second, for once, we'd be united as a world...one unit...with the same common goal....to love and help those less fortunate.

As for when was the last time I helped someone who couldn't help themselves? This morning. I had extra money on my check from working overtime and I made an anonymous donation in a card to my neighbor who couldn't afford to get her car fixed. How did it make me feel? Well when the tow truck pulled up to get her car, I felt comforted knowing that she would know longer have to be waking her children up at 5:30 in the morning to drag them out into the cold on the city bus just to get them to school and her to work on time.

When ever I do something for a person I never want anything in return. I am helping them, because I want to. There are a lot of people in the world that love to take advantage of people when they are at there lowest point. All I can say is that god will bless those who help others, but not if it's not within your heart. God won't bless those that do things for others only for personal gain.

Every day I do something for someone and I dont expect anything in return. The reason why I do that is because I like to help people and I dont want to set myself for disappointment when those people are not there for me. I learned that lesson from my mistakes

if you believe in balance and dont try to make it happen then doing this would come naturally anyways...i dont expect anything for anything i do...or anyone...i think you make your choices including helping people and if its meant to be it will bounce back to you and if not well then theres a reason for that too...do what you want and dont expect anything...;0)
