Any Star Wars especially the originals with Darth Vader. Titanic, , pretty much anything with guns, planes & helicopters.. But my favourite has to be the Lion King..volume cranked up when scar slams his foot down on top of Zazu, makes my kids jump everytime.

Depends on a couple of factors. How good is your audio system at staging a 5.1 or 6.1 channel sound field? And, how are the accoustics of the room you're playing the movie in?
Some movies like the Star Wars saga have loud, bombastic effects that are an "easy lay" for home theater sales people. Pop in something with extreme highs and lows and they'll pimp out a Bose sound system that'll have you convinced you're hearing the best thing on planet earth.
But, what about the more subtle moments. I like a surround effect that really fools you into thinking there's something going on inside the room. Such an effect got me during the wake scene in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Its a quiet scene, but the sound of a woman sobbing sounds so real...so local, that I thought someone was watching the movie with me. Jurassic Park's dynamic range is good, too, but that movie, along with T2, and anything by Lucas, and any popcorn movie are movies that rely completely on technical wizardry to tell the story.
Gladiator tells a really good story, and makes solid use of a DTS Mix on the DVD. Another good example is Spider-Man. The story is about a normal guy put into extrordinary situations. The sound and visual effects are used as an enhancement. The story isn't about the enhancements.
Another couple of good DVDs to get a hold of for 5.1 are the newly released (2 years or less) edition of Pink Floyd the Wall and the Eagles Hell Freezes Over. Both have been remastered to take advantage of surround sound to the fullest, with the Eagles Disc even using high grade DTS 5.1.
Comes down to this...
One mans sandwich spread is another man's manure.

Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, I would say Harry Potter would be good for surround sound but they are not great films!

The later Star Wars movies are terrific. Lucas specifically designed these movies to envelop the audience and required additional upgrades to theater sound systems to quality to show them. The combination of booming explosions, John Williams' score, and the zooming ships and fights that spin "around" the viewer - it's a very rich, 3-dimensional experience - IF you can get around Natalie Portman's phenomenally flat performance and Lucas' bad love scenes.

If you have 6.1 or 7.1 sound, watch Return of the King, the Extended Edition which has 6.1 sound (the regular DVD is 5.1).
I also agree with Jurassic Park and Raiders of the Lost Ark (the remastered version) has incredible sound!

I don't think you can actually watch anything on a sound system.
I think we know what you mean, but personally, I prefer silent films and a huge organ, which thunders around a cinema better than any loudspeakers.
Call me old-fashioned if you like!
