Some people who could advise you include: SOAS (School fo African and Oriental Studies), who have a translation course, and may be able to connect you to publications creating African-language media in the UK; if you live in an area with a large Hausa-speaking demographic, contact your local council, who will probably be grateful for someone who can write copy in Hausa and English; and finally, the BBC world service has excellent departments in many, many languages - including Hausa. They may not offer paying work at the beginning (the BBC is very difficult to crack), but they may have some helpful advice. Good luck!

Your chances of finding a job speaking hausa are probably a bit ropey, especially as your research skills appear to be a bit narrow, but best of luck anyway guy!

hi, ignore the racists. No you cannot set up a business you have to inform the home office and apply for a different type of visa, i mean you could try and do it without iforming them but you have to earn enough money to prove you are self sufficient and what happens when your visa expires? you will have to enroll again and sacrifice your time within your business and be in breach of immigration laws. I'm from Nigeria as well and have been in England for 8 years now and i haven't encountered any prejudice.

In the UK it would be very low budget as we are English and speak English. Even Al-Jazeera has closed on Sky to be replaced with an English speaking version and that's high-budget

If you are looking for work in the local newspaper sector then you might want to try www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk although many editors will just look at your journalistic skills rather than your Nigerian language skills. Good luck.

Why don't you turn it to Nigeria. We already have enough people here speaking other languages.
Thanks
