...and keep voting Rep.?

The deal with the Repugs is that they claim to hold the moral high ground. Then something happens like the Foley scandal, the Abramoff scandal, the Iraq reconstruction contractor overpayment scandals, the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandals, the Michael Brown Katrina fiasco, etc., etc. and people realize that, hey, the Repugs are no more moral than anyone else. Then they start talking about abortion and how that's murder and the Repugs have the moral high ground on that, then you notice that the Repugs have managed to do absolutely nothing about getting abortion made illegal, and people realize that the Repugs are no more moral than anyone else.

Then they start talking about fiscal responsibility and people notice that the federal deficit haqs never been higher, by any measure or comparison, 6 years after the Repugs captured complete control of the legislative and executive branches, ansd suddenly people realize that the the Repugs are LESS fiscally responsible than anyone else.

Here's the problem: the basic tenet of every Repug plank is that "The government is not the solution; the government is the problem."; they don't want to completely disappear the government they just want to get it small enough to drown in the bathtub. It sounds appealing, except when you realize that the government is not always the problem. Sure, the federal government is involved in a lot of stuff not originally envisioned by the founding fathers, which they should probably get out of. But government is a necessary evil, like it or not. And the people who ought to be running it are the ones who think the government can do some good, not the ones who blame the government for all the problems.

The same way people can be obstinate and keep voting Democrat. People in both groups will claim they actually understand what is best for the country. At least one side is incorrect. You could argue that both are wrong. If you want to know where I stand, you have to read my answers to other questions.

We live in a country where we are free to choose what political party we want to represent us. I'm a Democrat but honestly, there are sh*theads in both the Republican and Democratic parties.
