I use this phrase all the time when sb annoys me. I don't really wanna be left alone-or, at least, most of the times-I just want someone to stop pestering me. Sometimes I feel sorry about using this phrase, cuz it's a bit rude. That's when I realise that being alone sucks and I really wanna have people around me. It's just that once a while I like being able to hear even my deepest thoughts in a quiet room.

Depends. My cousin died in that plane crash in Lexington, and nothing makes it harder to keep it together than everyone offering condolences. When I said "Please leave me alone" I was quite serious. When I'm just being pestered I usually say "Not now" which isn't really literal because if I say not now, I mean not ever

It isn't something I would say.

If I want to be left alone I would be inclined to say "go away" or something similar, or just find some place away from them.

And I'd be more inclined to swear and go ahead at somebody pestering me.
