From what you describe, this sounds like a bladder infection. When you pee, it probably feels like your insides are being pulled down..and it hurst like crazy. The pain can run to your back as well, making you think the pain is in your kidneys. Blood in the urine along with the burning, pulling pain is usually associated with a bladder infection. Even the mildest bladder infection feels severe.
By all means call your Dr. to set up an appointment. He'll definitely want a urine sample. Your frequency and urgency of urination is common in bladder infections as well. When on the way to the Dr.'s office, don't be surprised if you have these sensations and think you might have an 'accident' on the way. This too, is very common, but don't delay it any longer than you have to.

If you leave cyctitis, an infection of the urinary tract, it can progres to your kidneys and cause a kidney infection. This is painful and feels like you've been kicked in the back.
It won't be an emergency yet but could turn into a serious infection - you will need to get to the doctors to get antibiotics tomorrow. In the meantime, drinks loads of cranberry juice and water. If you can bear it, mix it with some bicarbonate of soda. All of these things stop the acidity of the infection from burning you as you pee! Good luck!

You could have severe cystitis. This happens to me a lot. Go and see your doctor sooner rather than later and they can prescribe antibiotics that will stop it. In the meantime drink drink drink water! The more you can drink the better as this will give you something to actually pee and should help to stop the bleeding. Stay away from caffeine, alcohol and juice until you are better. Good luck x
p.s. Have just read what some people have written, if you feel that you cannot wait for a doctors appointment then yes go to the hospital but do not panic. This is actually quite common and will get better with antibiotics.

You don't say whether you have taken any kind of medication for the cystitis. This could be the cystitis worsening, as it can lead to passing blood in the urine, and great pain in the kidneys, back and abdomen. I would suggest you do seek treatment now. Yes, I would think it is an emergency if you are in such pain and fright - it is a frightening situation, and is best to get it checked out. You could always ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647 - they have professionals who will advise you if you should visit ER. If it is cystitis, it needs treating anyway. Hope you get better very soon!

Yes, that is an emergency. You probably injured your kidneys. Kidneys are very sensitive, and if they're injured, you pee blood. Call your doctor right away or go to the emergency. This could cause serious health problems or worse if not treated right away.

it sounds like a pretty bad case of cystitus - I'm assuming you didn't go to the docs for antibiotics? Go to your nearest emergency room or phone up nhs24 or whatever it is if you're in that much pain. Keep drinking as much as you can as the more diluted your urine is the less it will hurt (on a scale of 'tearing my hair out' to 'screaming at the top of my lungs')

Hi i suffer with water infections alot every time i finish a course off anti-biotics its back,i am also pasiing blood in my urine but ony a small amount which i cant see but when the sample gets sent to the hospital lab they also detect it.Ive ahad various test for this and they still cant find out why there is blood in my urine.Go to your gp he will dip test your urine and also send it away to the lab the results come bck with in a wk,your gp will ask to see you again and more then likely put you on anti-biotics and may send you to the urology dept for further tests.Sounds to me you may have a water infection or a kidney infection or something simular, keep me posted whats happens.Good Luck

Sometimes I despair. Why waste your time on a site like this when it should be obvious that you need to see your doctor ASAP. It's unlikely to be an emergency in the sense that it's unlikely to be fatal. On the other hand for you it is, in that you probably need treatment and the sooner the better.

Sounds like a kidney infection.

without treatment...it will spread through the blood system, hence your pains in other areas.

Anitbiotics will cure it up so get to the doctors pronto.
