This laptop won't load the operating system for some reason. I want to try to reboot Windows xp and erase my old version but when the computer starts up, it only gives me a choice to hit f2 and that takes me into setup. On my other computers it would give me a choice to press esc and it will go into another menu which will allow me to boot up from the cd. I tried going into setup(f2) to try to boot the cd but it didnt work. Is there a certain button config. that i could use to get into the bios menu???

There is a need of more information here. You have not mentioned if the BIOS even recognizes the Hard Disk Drive.

Anyways the basic question here is whether your Hard Disk Drive is even recognized by the BIOS. If it is not then there is no way you can install the Operating System.

If you have a Floppy Diskette Drive then you may try to use a third party Hard Disk installation Program ( similar to Ontrack Disk Manager ). This will also install the basic drivers to boot up your Laptop from the CD -Rom Drive provided that you do it with the Operating System CD inserted into it.
