10% more suspect this happened. I believe with electronic voting systems built by companies loyal to Republicans, the temptation is too hard to resist against vote tampering. How long will it take to get systems in place that have verifiable paper trails? Actually as an election judge, I alway thought the old optical scan system we used in my city worked just fine. Its one thing to have results you don't like, its another entirely if the election is stolen.

Starlight : seriously, what are your thoughts on putting in a tamper-proof system? How would you go about it ? This problem works both ways you know.

Lilli : This should never have gone to the USSC where a conservative partisan majority appointed Bush to the presidency. This was supposed to be an election. Am I supposed to be naive enough to think it went by the rules? This issue will never go away. New systems can and should be put in place to prevent this from ever happening again.

Agreed, electronic voting systems would surely decrease the chances of another Florida recount fiasco, but without a paper trail the votes will always be suspect. I'm thinking people should have to vote on paper, using whatever method is best, such as checking boxes or whatnot, and yet also electronically vote, to ensure that there is no mix up, because its electronic, but also a paper trail to ensure there is no fraud. I'm glad you pointed all this out to everyone

Yes, I'm for the optiscans too. Supposedly there are supposed to be paper ballots available for the 2008 election for people who do not want to use the machines.

But who knows if the funds Congress voted in for this recently, will actually reach all of the states by then? Also, if you use the paper ballots, who knows if they will count them?

In my opinion, people shouldn't be voting early or using absentee ballots unless they are absolutely necessary. Many of those votes were thrown away or not counted.

The numbers instruct that the economic device become "good" throughout Bush's Presidency. no longer saying that they have got been super, yet we've been shifting forward a an excellent %.. in case you evaluation all of the economic alerts, you will see that they commence heading south after the November election in 2008. i think of it quite is significate evidence that the mere seen Obama being our president become sufficient to destroy our economic device. the reality is, businesses recognized how radical the president become that they began to scale lower back. till we get a clean president in, this could proceed.

We need a papertrail - not just for fraud, but also for glitches.
One lil bug could throw off an entire election.
Every piece of software has bugs.
most are worked out in development and testing, but there are ALWAYS some that come to light after it's being used.

Get rid of the electronic voting machines, and get two trustworthy pollwatchers to guard EVERY ballot-box right up until the time of tabulation. Simple
