1, or if you're less than 1, 0. After age 1, the next time that
would happen is age 64, I believe, since it is 8 squared, and
4 cubed. Try all numbers between 2 and 63, and I can't think
of a number in that range, that satisfies both conditions.

Depends on how old you are now!

Let's look at some squares and cubes, to find a number that is both:

Squares: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100

Cubes: 1, 8, 27, 64, 125

So in an average person's lifetime, they are both a square age and a cube age at 1 and 64.

Assuming you are older than 1, the next time you will be both a square and cube will be when you are 64.

Now as for HOW LONG MUST YOU WAIT ???? I can't answer that since I don't know how old you are! Subtract your current age from 64 to answer this part!

HTH! :-)

Numbers 1 , 64, 729,..... all these have both sq roots & cube roots as whole numbers. You must be more than 1 year old so you have already crossed first milestone in this sequence. For next subtract your present age from 64. Wait for around 700 more years for third such number.
What is fourth number in the list? 4096 (sq of 64 and cube of 16) & if you are still not tired look for 15626 (sq of 125 and cube of 25)
enough of waiting, I must say!

But every number has a sq root & a cube root (this may or may not be a whole number as it may be a fraction) so at every given time your age is both a square & cube number - no need to wait.

Your teacher probably wants to listen 64-x as answer where x is your present age.

if x^2 = x^3
x = x^2
x^2-x = 0
x(x-1) = 0
so x = 0
or x =1

that means you don't have to wait any day. the day you are born, you are 0 years of age, which means 0^2 = 0^3

But if its necessary you wait, wait till an year when 1^2 = 1^3

Since I do not know your age I say you must wait until you are 64.

Since you could not be less then one and asking this "Q?"

Or 64 minus your current age.

let age=X yr.
according to U r problem
X^3=X^2 orX^3-X^2=0or X^2(X-1)=0 //
since X is non zero so(X-1)=0 which gives X=1.
