check out the Ariel Atom on Atom.com. Dam' pricey and minimal comfort, but you said fastest in the UK, yes? It was on Top Gear, I have downloaded a clip of their test drive in one.
There is an electric version of same basic design being built in British Columbia that claims fastest sprint times. It is constructed under licence from Ariel, but with a different name. (?)
