Will the old xbox games work on 360?

Yes, but you need to buy the $399 version that comes with the hard drive necessary. (Or you could buy the hard drive separately) If you don't, the 360 will not read the Xbox disc. Look up Xbox 360 backwards compatibility for more information.
Also, games like Halo and Halo 2 are part of a list of backwards compatible games that the hard drive will recognize, but not all games are backwards compatible yet.

No. But I think Halo 1 and 2 work. I haven't tried it yet, but It doesn't work with a lot of games.
