Celebrities are Abstract we look at the surface and do not care of the inner workings or what is below the surface

We reference them and use them; we do not understand them and do not need to.

This leads to false assumptions and accusations.

A celebrity becomes a human when the abstraction is removed via reality television etc.

Non-Abstract celebrities never last as they cannot maintain the falsity of their image. [Which is why people who try to rise to fame via reality TV never really do]

A person's opinion comes from what sort of person they really are inside and it's not realistic to separate the two. Many celebrities are not educated in politics, but because they are celebrities the press makes the mistake of assuming that non-celebrities want to hear their opinion. The fact is, they make fools of themselves and their glaring ignorance is out there for the world to see. The smartest celebrities are those who stay out of the political arena, and who put their money where their mouth is by donating to social causes like feeding poor children, or giving to cancer research, or adopting a homeless child, or volunteering to help the needy, or donating performances to entertain the troops. The public in general is not interested in empty headed or destructive insults and remarks from anyone, including celebrities. Not to say that all celebrities are empty headed. Anthony Hopkins is an example of an intelligent, introspective, thoughtful actor. If an actor or celebrity wants the public to know how they really feel and think and what their opinions really are, they should make arrangements through their publicists to be interviewed by a reputable commentator or journalist Unfortunately, many celebrities aren't always bright enough to realize they really don't have informed and intelligent opinions.

Some sectors of society couldn't give a fig about any 'celebrity'.
Why anybody would show more than a passing interest in the comings and goings of these overpaid airheads is quite beyond me. It seems as though being made famous by the media for the furtherance of its own agenda, turns these previously mentally vacuous folk into the sages of our time. The reason for disliking these people is simply that we feel that there is nothing really to like.

it could be projection. maybe they see things that they've read in articles or whatever (regardless of acuracy) and can relate it to themselves but dont want to admit it.
besides it's not like it affects the celebrity first-hand whether or not somebody likes them.
a lot of celebritys choose what is put and what isn't in media like that anyway. they know they are in the limelight and choose to be there.
and it's really weird i think too because for example i LOVE will smith and i've never met the guy.
but i don't particularly like tom green. he gets on my nerves A LOT. like i'm sO not a fan at all... and again, i've never met him
i guess we just want to be a part of something more than just oure little ordinary lives and live vicariously through other people... who are rich and famous.

We find out about celebrities by reading the papers/mags and watching the news/other programmes. Where else are we to pick up info on them? This is how we base our opinions......who in the REAL world actually gets to know the REAL person behdin the celebrity?

Though saying that, watching an episode of big brother was enough to see how annoying jade is. I do agree though cos their are some celebrities i think the media should just leave alone, like tom cruise n katie holmes with their baby suri and britney. I feel sorry for them

That's the power of the media for you. I don't have much of an opinion about most celebrities, because, as you say, I don't know much about them. I don't even read newspaper articles about them myself, because I just don't care about such things. Good question though!

the same reason you don't like that bloke down the pub, or the woman in the corner shop. we all make decsions and assumptions about people every day by the way they look, dress, talk or what we hear about them.

is it wrong? maybe but such is life. i'm sure there are people out there that no nothing about you or me for that matter that don't like us, why? assuption, gossip, first immpressions...who knows? am i bothered? are you bothered? no? didn't think so. and i think celebs feel kinda the same way.
