Hong Kong is the best place for travel in asia, however it might be slightly expensive than some countries. If your are on budget, the next best place to go to will be taiwan. Things are cheap and good there, even transportation are alot more cheaper.

Mixture of nation. You can enjoy different food and experiencing different culture.
Few beautiful island in both east and west coast in peninsular malaysia, let you enjoying the mass of sun bathing, surfing, fishing, swimming etc....
Beatiful natural resource in East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) - jungle, moutain.
Exploring the life style of few native that visible to visitor.

please be specified about whats your preferences of a holiday, because what are 'best' for me may not suit you, example i love beaches but you may wanted some adventures trips !
also your planned time/date because some 'best' places may be affected by monsoon, local's season etc.
n not forget your budget as well ! otherwise if i suggested a chalet but you wants satellite tv n swimming pool !

First - visit Singapore for its 'fun' tourist attraction...like Sentosa, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Night Safari....Chinatown, Little India...
Then, visit Malaysia (Linked by road so you can take a bus ride there or catch a flight there) for the natural place of interest and food...like sandy beaches in Langkawi, Pulau Redang...Penang...
Lastly, visit Thailand (Linked by road so you can take a bus ride there or catch a flight there) for its cheap shopping and food...

Malaysia as we are a cultural and multiracial country where there are beautiful beaches,mountains,greenery and seafood, hypermarkets and many shopping centres in KLCC,One Utama,Midvalley. Kuching, Sarawak and Sabah if you like snorkelling,trekking,mountain climbing,golf and everything is cheap....You are most welcome to visit Malaysia Year 2007, where Malaysia Welcomes the World......

we hv everything from mountains if u prefer adventurous holiday to beautiful islands and beaches or u can just spent ur holiday at the city like kuala lumpur or johor bahru or kuching...
u'll also will be drawn with lotsa lotsa choice of foods;malay/chinese/indian/fusion cuisine...and it cheap too..
my personal opinion: stay at karambunai resort...its sooo breathtaking n beautiful not to mention the foods just superb!!
