be free of charge

For example soap. Nappies for babies. And, well, "feminine products" for that tricky time of month. That sort of thing.

I mean, it's not as if we can realistically get by without these things. Wouldn't it be socially responsible to supply them free of charge so that even people on low income can have them?

And what would you make free of charge?

And no, fast cars and wide screen TV's, jacuzzis and private jets do not count as necessities :o)

If we made all the "necessities" in life free, then a lot of people would be out of jobs. I think they should make things like health insurance, education, dental care, etc. free if you do something in return, so everyone doesn't lose out, like say volunteer at a clinic or something one day a week...I would do it for some free health insurance, I have NONE right now because I am self-employed and health insurance is WAY too expensive.

Well by this logic, food should be free of charge. We should be allotted a certain about of "nurishment" daily in order to sustain our level of protein and vitamins and minerals. That would be a huge cut of our budget!

In addition, clothing is a social necessity. Therefore, clothes should be provided. Perhaps not the top of the line designer clothes, but something sufficient for their needs.

By the same logic, medicine and health care should be free as it is in other parts of the world (not the US *sigh*). I'm liking this idea. Who do we present it to? ;)

i would say make food, water, basic clothes, and shelter things that should be free for less fortunate. I mean like 3 meals a day per person, 8 8oz glasses a water a day per person, a pair of of jeans and a t-shirt and shoes per person, and a place w/ heat/ ac and a bed for each person to sleep in

Mooch, that makes sense you want to mooch off other peoples labor. Who would you suggest pay for all this largess? The governmet does not make any money, they simply take it from one group and distribute it to another group. You can't just make something free, the manufacturer has to earn money as well.

That would be nice. What I really think should be free is if your sending mail to the government that they require back. I just sent back a whole bunch of their stupid documents back and it cost me $10.00 in postage. They send it out for free we should be able to claim it on our income taxes.

I don't think they should be free of charge, however I do believe those who cannot afford them should be able to get them for free.
