Limewire is legal software.

Using Limeware to download copyrighted material or to make copyrighted material available to download without the permission of the copyright holder is illegal.

Limewire is a legal peer 2 peer file sharing client. However, many of the downloads have false licenses claiming that its legal to download them when in fact it is not. Example: person rips a cd, uploads it and marks it as uncopyrited and legal to download.

You then download the file that is "uncopyrited" (but actually is copyrited) and have now just commited an illegal act. The authorities now can bust you for pirating. Don't believe me, check out this link about a 12 year old girl who was busted and sued by the RIAA.

Be careful using it, not just because of the legal trouble, but because of all the spyware that can jack up your computer.

I believe Limewire is a legal service, it's those who download from them, that are breaking the law. Support the artist - buy their CD!

The way I see it, if it's there it must be legal otherwise it wouldn't be there. Another way to look at it if you weren't the first to do it your not at fault. If everyone else does it why shouldn't you be allowed to. Why should some people have the privelege while others do not?

Yes it's legal....but if you burn it to a cd then its considered illegal. Reason being is that if you just d/l your song and keep it in your computers database then thats not pirating....but if you actually put it on a cd then thats pirating ....wierd aint it.
