I think that it was also the plot for an episode of Friday the 13th the series in the late 80 early 90s or one of the Creepshow movies. It sounds familiar to me, but the pictures on IMDB don't seem to match.

i think it was on an episode of buffy the vampire slayer. saw 1 and 2 also had a dummy in. try buffy season 2 episode1 !!!
