Yeah, everything causes cancer! Didn't you get that memo?
1. A hickey is a breaking of capillaries in the skin due to suction (and the occasional love nibble). In that way, it is like a bruise. I suppose that in extreme cases that blood might cause a "clot" but I don't see how. Furthermore, this clot would be in the skin, so I don't see how it would be a health problem (wouldn't travel to the heart, for instance).
2. Cancer... jeez....
3. Hickeys are a sign of immaturity. It's something that we do as teens. Part of the fun of being adult is that we can have sex and everyone doesn't need to know what we're doing. Part of what makes sex special is that only the people involved know what went on. So, while I think your parents are pullin your leg, I agree with them that hickeys are bad form, CERTAINLY if they're on their 28-year-old daughter!!!

Well, your parents are not the scientific type, or the academic type, so trying to reason with them logically won't work. The only thing you could do is have a quote from someone they would listen to saying that such a thing would not cause cancer or blood clots.

Are you using the word hickies like human beings throughout WWII used the word hickies...? Like as in zits? besides, they do no longer reason maximum cancers. Neither do the little bruises that happen from being bitten, in case you have been using hickies interior the greater cutting-ingredient sense.

Scientifically, I cannot answer. It does break small vessels,(venules and capillaries), however, as a nurse, I have never encountered that problem. I am relatively sure that when we were counseling young girls about sexual activity, we would have been made aware of that were it true. Good Luck!!
