Square root of:
w+14=7

Now, I still don't see the actual steps to the algebrator, I asked the information section, and there is still not directons..just need help on Square roots

Are you taking the square root of w only, or of the sum w+14? The reason I ask, is that it will make a difference in your answer!

I'm going to assume you are taking the square root of the sum w+14 and show you how to solve this.

By the way, you can write the square root of the sum w+14 in either of two ways, that will make it easier in the future for people who are trying to help you with your homework:

... SQRT(w+14)
... (w+14)^1/2

Ok, so back to your problem:

SQRT(w+14) = 7

Square both sides to get:

w+14 = 7^2 = 49

Subtract 14 from both sides to get:

w = 49-14 = 35

The square root of what equals 7: answer-49.
Therefore, when w+14=49 you will have your solution. To solve for w just subtract 14 from both sides of the equation above to get w=35.
