My children are 11 and 9 and I want to know if they are old enough to get there own credit cards. If you know how old you have to be please tell me.

You must be 18 to enter into a legally binding contract. Therefore a child cannot get a credit card account in their own name.

Some credit card issuers will allow a duplicate card in a child's name on YOUR account but will not normally establish an account in the child's name.

If you want children that age to have access to funds via a credit card like instrument, many banks offer pre-paid debit cards that you can have issued in your children's names. You control how much money is placed in the account and often can restrict where the card can be used and you have full access to all purchase records.
