Can Groupers such as the miniatus and Panther get Ich bad and fast like tangs do? And one more question, I have this porcupine puffer who has ich and I tried every thing to get rid of it, hypo salinity, copper and freshwater dips and NOTHING helps. But he shows no signs that it bothers him. He swims fine and eats well, I have been giving him garlic too. SHould I just leave him be?

Yes your groupers can get ich just like your tangs can. It sounds like you have tried everything possible to get rid of it. I had this problem really bad when I first set up my saltwater tank. It drove me nuts & cost me some bucks.

Try getting a couple of neon goby's. They are tiny little cleaner fish that actually eat the parasites off of other fish. This includes ich. I've had tanks for years, but just realized this a few weeks ago. I had a dog-face puffer (who I figured would eat the goby) but that goby cleaned his ich up fast. I added a little more live rock to my tank for the goby to hide in, & no one has gotten eaten.

This, in addition to what you are already doing, may help rid your tank of ich. Good luck!
