II was considering qgoing to some, but I've heard that companies use job fairs for marketing for the most part. Has anyone on here been hired on the spot at a job fair?

Yes you can indeed! However, beware of who puts on the job fair. Most job fairs are indeed marketing ploys. check with your local Chamber of Commerce BEFORE you attend. If you have to pay anything to get in the door, then it is a SCAM.

It is possible for hourly employees to get hired right on the spot, but very unlikely salary employees. Job fair isn't the right setting to have any in depth conversation about ones skills and experience.

Companies use job fair for marketing purposes as well as a cheap way to collect resumes. Even if they are hiring, it will take a while to sort through all the resumes they collected before calling to arrange interviews.

I don't think that companies will take the time and effort to set that up if they didn't want people. In my area job fairs are better than the classifieds.

They don't use job fairs for normal marketing purposes; it would be pointless. They certainly do use them to market themselves to prospective employees.

If nothing else, you'll likely come away with several firm interview appointments. Any one of them could lead to a firm job offer.

I don't know if you can get hired right away but you sure can find out about other company's and get phone numbers and also give your phone number to those who are hiring. I got my job that way.
