What is home coming? why is it important? who is actually coming home?

Alway wondered about this, not something we celebrate in the UK.

First home football game of a high school... nobody is actually "coming home"... there is a big dance after the game and stuff. hope this helps! : )

Same as first answer. It's to celebrate the coming of the foot ball seasson. In my school it lasted a week. The snobby preppies make up a stupid celebration for it too.
