just as an example, the colour of your skin. Would you then, in turn, act prejudiced against another human being, such as someone who was Gay.
I am a tolerant person to everyone i come across, regardless of who they are. I do not understand prejudice and would be interested to learn why some people have prejudice and others dont.

Some people are insecure and in turn they bully other people to make themselves feel better. I don't judge people by skin colour, sexuality or anything else because it's who they are and everyone is individual so why discriminate them for who they are. Also peer pressure and influence is a main cause. If your friends hate e.g. black people then to fit in you must hate them. The news and magazines are also big influence to the way people act towards other people e.g. the new issue with muslims wearing veils, lots of people have jumped on the band wagon hating muslims who wear veils.
People who recieve prejudice and discrimination either dismiss it, some act back and some in turn bully other people. The best thing if you recieve pejudice is to ignore it and rise above it, if they can't accept you then they're not worth bothering about.

You say that you're not prejudiced or intollerant, but would you really tollerate someone who had a very different attitude towards life than you? For example would you tolerate a nazi or a child molester? I wouldn't.

I think prejudice and intolerance are a natural part of being human. Like all animals we live in herds or packs where there are very strong connections and similarities. A pack, naturally I belive, tends to exclude others who don't fit in. Sometimes this might be a passive attitude, other times it will be more aggressive.

If I were prejudiced, then I probably wouldn't even realise it. I would regard my dismissive views of the other person/category as eminently reasonable.

I can cite a bizarre example of prejudice. The white legal adviser of a court offered advice to a black defendant in order to help him (as was her duty). The defendant snapped at her tha she was only talking like that because she was prejudiced. He was represented by a lawyer, who tried in vain to explain that the advice was sensible and impartial and offered with his best interests in mind. Eventually the magistrates had to ask the man to apologise to the legal adviser for his rudeness, pointing out that no prejudice whatever had been shown against him. He glowered at the legal adviser. "Well, she looks the kind of person who would be prejudiced!" he snapped.

There was a black man showing prejudice against a white woman because in his imagination the sort of people who might be prejudiced looked like her! Now that really was prejudice!

I myself an not a prejudice individual and do not understand why or how someone can treat someone badly or differently based on something they either cannot control such as skin color. Or based on something you simply do not agree with. I say live and let live. We all answer in the end. I feel as though prejudice is a direct result of ignorance and lack of knowledge. i do not understand it and do not like to be around people who have these ideas and hang ups. God created all of us, what we do with our lives is a matter of choice. It is not my place to judge anyone, that is his job. Live and let live, if you like it I love it or i just do not make myself a part of it. I think alot or prejudice issues comes directly from lack of knowledge or fear of something. So we need to educate those who do not know anybetter. Being self rightous is not a good personality trait to posess. God Bless

Everyday, but I would never be prejudiced against anyone. Just because we are something, a label, it never means everyone is the same. You can never cast everyone with the same dye and prejudice of any kind should not be tollerated.

I have never been prejudice in any way to anyone, and I never would, no matter if someone was prejudiced against me.
If another person was ignorant why would I want to be like them??

Prejudice can also have deep roots in your family. My father is racist, and I still find myself thinking like him sometimes, just because it is so ingrained. What I really dislike is Reverse racism, being so objective and overlooking traits that are prevalent in certain races because people are so afraid to stereotype. We're all different, and there are always exceptions to certain rules, but if we can't look at something for what it is, for fear of hurting someone's feelings, then we'll never get anywhere.

Fear. Prejudice is a fear based. No one wants to be low man on the totem pole, so to speak. Many search for someone or class or race or gender to be below them and to discriminate against them to make themselves feel better about where they stand in the world. This is mostly without getting to know a person, class or ethnic group. To be predjudice is to pre-judge based on appearance or stigma.

I humour myself in how others judge me and find it humour-some to know that I judge them not through stereotypes but through psychological analysis.

You have experienced Prejudice either onto you or onto someone close to you, else you would not have asked the question.

Those who pre-judge others do so through a lack of understanding.

To those who prejudge you, prove them wrong if you so wish but remember that what another thinks of you is irrelevant it is what you do that matters not what they think you do!
