I need this for a class I'm in. So please be a wordy as you'd like and put in personal stories if you'd like. Also, please put your name (it can be fake if you'd like) so I can quote you, first and last, and what school year you are in or if you have graduated.

Have you ever transfered to a 4 year school from a community college? If you have:
Why did you do it-
What were some obsticles-
Was it worth it-
Do you know others who have not transfered-
What happened to them-
What is the best thing about having transfered-
Do you have any advice for anyone who will or may transfer? What is it -
Anything else you'd like to say about this?

I transferred from St. Louis Community College to Missouri Baptist University because after doing some work in the elementary schools I found out that I was more likely to get a teaching position from a school like MoBap than from a junior college. It is definitely more prestigious sounding I think. But, on the flip side, I'm now paying about 4 times as much in tuition and that's living off campus and buying used books. I will graduate in May 07 with a BS in elementary education and love the fact that the accreditation my University receives is very respected and that I'm a part of that.

I transferred from a community college (cc) to a 4 year university. The program at the cc was intended as the first two years of a bachelor degree. I can't speak for all cc's but I think the quality was good and the cost was definitely less. At large universities, many freshman classes are huge (perhaps 200 or so) and you don't have that at typical cc's.

Begin planning your transfer early. Talk with people at the cc and the school you intend to transfer to about whether the classes you intend to take at the cc will transfer with full credit.

I transferred to a four yr college. I wanted to get a Bachelors Degree with my studies. Larger amounts of money for tuition. Yes it was totally worth it. I knew of others who didn't transfer and they are working in High Labor jobs with low wages. The best thing about having transferred is the vastness of programs offered. My advice for the transferee is to stop playing like you did in the community college this is a totally new experience.
