I work for a small east coast company around 20 people. I have pretty decent benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, 401K, & I work at home). I have 3 years experience. Should I be making more or should I be content for now? Also I just received my Masters in IS from a highly respected school - Stevens in NJ. Just curious.

As an IT professional that has been in the field for over 10 years, the salary is dependent upon various factors such a the market in the geographic area.

However, in my view, the biggest factor is who you work for. Salaries vary from company to company. Like a coworker of mine stated, "If you want more money you will more than likely have to get a job somewhere else."

With that said, 50K for three years experience is par for the market, even with a Master's degree.

I agree with Martin! Get some experience under your belt first. However, it hurts not to keep your eyes open for something better. And if you want to make more, use your masters for some kind of evening school teaching in your area. You will get much more experience by teaching. I have done that and I know! In the meantime keep the job you have till you find something much better. And keep in mind that the grass just seems to be greener on the other side.

Good luck
