NO!. They played terrible for years! Now they have a kick *** team, it doesn't matter who they play, they have already won as far as I am concerned.

I don't think anybody did, even the so called experts. It's pretty amazing how well they played this year but then again it just shows you how all the teams are pretty close in competition. Just look at the NL this year when almost every team was in contention for the playoffs. And I think in 2003 the Marlins won the world series when nobody thought they would.

This also brings up the point why basball does NOT need a salary cap. It's fine the way it is, you really cannot predict what is going to happen in the MLB.

No, honestly I did not.

I knew once they hired Leyland they might get better.
I had them pegged to win 80 and finish 3rd place.
That would have made me very happy, considering where
they have been the last 12 years.

But as the season progressed I was becoming more and more in tune. Once we did make the playoffs I was hoping against hope that we'd beat The Yankees. Once we beat The Yankees I was thinking that was better than The World Series.

Now I am spoiled, and I want it ALL! AND I WANT IT NOW!
ON A SILVER PLATTER! lol (do i sound like a Muts fan or what???) j/k!

No, I honestly didn't and I wondered why Ivan Rodriguez would
sign with them but then they brought in the Pittsburgh Management Crew; Jim Leyland and his coaches Rafael Belliard, Andy Van Slyke etc. and they played great baseball all
summer long, but almost lost out in the stretch.

No, I thought they would be much improved!! I was hoping they traded Verlander to us, I heard great things about him through Jim Mayo of minor league baseball. He warned everyone about Zumaya, and that Humberto Sanchez was not the far from reaching the big leagues!! I honestly believed the Yankees would win number 27th championship

I think anyone who is being honest with you and theirselves would say they figured they were about 3-5 years away. I never would have thought it but sometimes the ball just bounces your way but I think the number 1 reason they made it this far is one person Jim Leyland

Last year I thought it was going to take them one more year (so next season) to go to the World Series.
