a "L", slightly opened up, with the point at x=1, y=1.

x < 1, y approaches infinity
X > 1, Y approaches zero

You know that there are 4 quadrants: the graph of such a function is just like 1/x, with the exception that the part of the graph which was in the 3rd quadrant is now transported and inverted over the x-axis into the 2nd quadrant..

It looks like a graph of y = 1/x, only steeper. and exists in quadrants I and II whereas 1/x exists in quadrants I and III
