14 if your mature enough to handle it. 15 is good too. the earlier the better, you'll gain so independence with your own money to spend and learn responsiblity. its nice no to have to beg mom and dad for cash. try a local pizza place or small causal resturant bussing tables. you'll learn how a resturant works and as you get older can move up to waitressing and make good money. waitressing is something you never forget how to do and can always fall back on no matter how old you get. i know if i ever loose my office job i can get a waitress job anywhere because i have 4 and a half years of catering hall experience. catering halls are a good start too.

They should try customer service positions. Fast food, doughnut shops, or retail stores. I think it's a great idea! Wish my parents pushed me to get one, I could have been a little more responsible...
They should at least be 15 years old.
